Freedom Wings, Freedom Flights

For my post tomorrow for Sunday Scribblings about "wings" and for my Poetry Thursday entry, here is an ode to my daughter who is graduating in a month and on her way to college in Oregon.  I'm proud of her sense of adventure and loyalty to her dreams.

Freedom Wings, Freedom Flights

Today is your graduation day

And I have for you

A simple pair of wings.

These wings represent freedom

For they are most sacred

And vital

For dragonflies, angels, dreamers

To move along on their journeys

And to soar!

Take care, my cherished aviator,

Enjoy your flight

And may your journey

Bring you adventure,

Peace,

And a learning of yourself

May the rains be light,

And may you get a chance

To behold all the beauty of this world.

Don’t forget to stop home

To refuel, to record your journeys

And to compose new flight plans.

omg...so beautiful!
The words make me tear up.
A perfect take on "wings" and a perfect tribute to your daughter beginning this stage of her life!

Congratulations to your daughter! I can't think of a more fitting tribute or a more beautiful expression of a mother's love.

I love that part. Home is indeed a great place to develop your flight plan.

A wonderful, freeing send-off for a parent to offer a child.
