My daughter, Kendra, finished her first triathalon! She's been working so hard towards it..and now she gets to reap the rewards. Honestly, as a mom, it's challenging to know how much encouragement and push to give and how much to let her figure things out on her own. Though she's trained for this off and on for many many months, this is the first time she went through with it. Sometimes there is fear in success for all of us...My husband decided to do it with her and even made several dates to practice with her (especially the swim because it's a booger...) and he stayed behind to encourage her and be with her. I have to say that's one of the most romantic things for me. Really, it's things like this that won my heart.
When she was done, she was sooooo proud! AND, she was ready to do another one. I know this high...once I rode my bike several miles to a race, ran 13 miles; rode my bike home and bowled 13 games! I probably would have kept going but my friends said, enough! The body is an amazing thing. But this euphoria is a great feeling that I hope she has over and over and over again...she's beautiful and I want her to KNOW it!
I can see how this success will bring her more success because she conquered her fears and learned she is good enough and she is worth it. I'm proud of you!!!! And a million thanks to Joe for being there...He could have easily leave her in the dust...instead, he showed her what a winner looks like.
You are such a sweet Mom!! :)
