I have always wondered why people love being grandparents so much; and now, I get to know. We get to BE in the moment and enjoy the little things without all the drama and fits... We work through being tired or agitated because we know our time is short.
So I got to just exercise imagination with Kaden. It's awesome. On Wednesdays, we visit him at his house...and this Wednesday we got to be in HIS world...and it was quite delightful!
First, he and I made up a running game where we race from the sidewalk to the tree. I count in Japanese and then we go. The cool part of his game, with his rules, everyone GETS A TURN to win...that would be awesome in real life, wouldn't it? Then, the game evolves from there. Then there are "sharks" in the water that we have to get out of the water so we can keep swimming. We use a net...which works in his world...and whew! We are safe...then there's a jelly fish, piranha, and dinosaurs...and finally there's no more room in his garage for all the animals we've captured, when suddenly, we come upon a pteradactyl! Now, here's the dilema...I say, well, we are going to run to the tree really fast...hug the tree...and push the magic button, and the tree will catch the pteradactyl with its arms, and we will b e safe. So the tree saves us, we thank the tree and tell the tree how much we love it, and run for safety. And then, the abominable snowman comes...when I tried to use a scary voice, he says, "no grammy! I don't like that voice!"
Seems grammy is not allowed to be scary (sweet)...just a place to feel safe and use our imaginations...and, I like that...I like that a lot...
